Starting in 2016, Chris Taylor, himself a keen angler, began offering specialised fishing tackle within the established pet feeds store. He recognised that there was a growing demand within the ever increasing carp fishing market.
Whilst occupying a section of the Homefeeds outlet, Chris saw an opportunity to separate from the rest of the store by erecting an internal wall and providing separate entrance thereby giving him the autonomy he sought as a different offering to the main store.
With the help of a loan from the Development Agency, work is nearing completion ready for the start of the new fishing season at the end of February. Stock levels are being increased and Chris has built a strong support team within the business.
Chris commented ‘We are one of only two such outlets in Crewe and we have built our customer base on personal service from knowledgeable staff who share the same passion for the sport as our clients. We sounded out the traditional source of the banks to obtain the funding we needed but through South Cheshire Chamber of Commerce, we worked with the Development Agency and within 10 days of our initial approach, we had the funding we required confirmed. This has enabled us to move ahead with our plans in time for the new season which is critical’
Richard Weilding from the Agency confirmed ’Chris had a clear plan, based upon a sound foundation of his first year’s trading. He has a genuine enthusiasm for the sport and through that has a comprehensive understanding of his customers’ needs. These assets enable the business to set itself apart from others in a growing marketplace. We were pleased to assist in taking his business to the next level.’
